Providing the very best start for your child

When Evie was born, I had difficulty in finding the right nursery which provided the very best in care and education for her. They seemed to fall into two categories; those that were usually individually owned and, while frequently provided a caring approach, offered little in the way of high quality facilities with a strong focus on both children's care and learning. Or, highly corporate institutions which were lacking in the intimacy and warmth that is essential for our children.

I wanted to develop the very best in care and education for our youngest children and as a result our first nursery was born! I bring a strong educational background to the nursery and work very closely with the team and the children to ensure standards are always extremely high and the quality of care and education is the very best.

"I do hope you trust us with the care and education of your child and we promise to do our very best for your child every day."

Every Day Life

Every day in the nursery is carefully planned to ensure your child receives the best learning opportunities in a safe, fun and caring environment.

Play is an important part of our learning. Through purposeful play the children enhance their knowledge and understanding of the world. They are introduced to a wide range of activities that provide learning opportunities for all our children.

At Hawthorn House we support children's natural curiosity by providing a wide range of experiences, and plenty of positive interaction with well-trained, professional staff.

The first five years of a child's life are the most important. We are here to give the support and care to help make them happy, confident children. We work under the Early Years Foundation Stage, a statutory framework, designed to ensure that children get the best possible start in life.

  • That each child is unique
  • That positive relationships between children, parents and staff support learning
  • That the learning environment should be enabling
  • That learning and development are promoted through play, exploration and creativity

Get up and go!

At Hawthorn House we believe that it is essential that we provide a healthy approach to ensure your child grows and develops well. Hawthorn House has a large outdoor play area. All our children have access to this throughout the day to ensure they get the fresh air and open space which is vital to young childrens learning and development. Outdoor activities are planned as an extension of each room and enable the children to develop and learn many more skills. The children have regular active times each day and enjoy dance and games sessions as part of the curriculum.

Healthy eating

We place great importance on keeping healthy. We teach the children about the importance of eating healthily and taking regular exercise. We provide delicious and nutritious home - cooked meals and snacks. All meals are made from fresh produce and prepared in the nursery by qualified and trained staff. We want to offer you the best possible support, and work with you when it comes to your childrens eating and nutritional development. We aim to encourage the development of healthy eating habits so childrens mealtimes are a relaxed, enjoyable group time with children interacting and learning valuable social skills like a family mealtime.
